TANDEM – ULTIMATE PU ADHESIVE

VITAS TANDEM is a two-component, white polyurethane adhesive designed for the rapid and secure installation of various materials. It effectively bonds marble, granite, natural stone, marble agglomerate, and composite marble tiles to a wide range of substrates, including wood, plywood, glass, and metal. This adhesive is particularly well-suited for non-absorbent surfaces and substrates prone to slight dimensional variations.

The unique water-free formulation eliminates the risk of permanent staining, especially on porous marble varieties. Additionally, it helps prevent the potential deformation of reconstituted marble tiles.

VITAS TANDEM offers versatility for both interior and exterior applications, including swimming pools.

Instruction to Use

Mixing and Application

VITAS TANDEM is a two-component adhesive that cures through a chemical reaction between Parts A and B. To ensure proper curing and bond strength, it's crucial to mix these components in the correct ratio. For on-site applications, using the two pre-measured packs in their entirety guarantees this accuracy.

Mixing Instructions:

Pour component B (catalyst) into the container holding component A (resin).

Utilize a low-speed electric stirrer to thoroughly blend the mixture until a uniform paste is achieved. Avoid high-speed mixing, which can introduce air bubbles.

Application Temperature:

VITAS TANDEM is formulated for use within a temperature range of 10°C to 30°C (50°F to 86°F). The product will not cure properly at temperatures below 10°C (50°F).

Mixing Precautions:

Do not add water, solvents, or additional catalysts to the mix.

Strictly adhere to the recommended mixing procedure to avoid compromising the product's curing properties.

Application:
Adhesive Contact:
Interior Applications: Ensure sufficient pressure during tile placement to achieve at least 95-100% contact between the tile and the adhesive. This optimizes bonding strength.

Exterior Applications: For exterior installations, 100% contact between the tile and adhesive is critical. This prevents water infiltration, which can cause tile detachment during freezing temperatures. To further enhance adhesion for exterior use, we recommend applying a layer of Tandem to the backs of the tiles.

Joint Requirements

Minimum Joint Width: Maintain a minimum joint width of 3 mm (1/8 inch) between all tiles. This allows for slight movement and thermal expansion without compromising the installation.
Expansion Joint Coordination: Ensure the tile layout aligns with existing expansion joints within the structure. These joints are typically found between walls, floors, and large expanses of wall surfaces. All expansion joints should be filled with an elastic sealant.

Perimeter Joint Spacing: Introduce expansion or perimeter joints at intervals not exceeding 20 square meters (215 square feet) throughout the tiled area. These joints accommodate dimensional changes due to temperature variations and substrate movement.

Cleaning:

Fresh Adhesive: While the adhesive is still uncured (wet), remove excess material from tiles and tools using a solvent like alcohol.

Cured Adhesive: Once the adhesive has cured (dried), removal can only be achieved through mechanical means, such as scraping or grinding.

PACKAGING: Packed in 5 kg plastic cans.  4 kg and 1 kg

STORAGE: In the original pack if properly sealed.

SHELF LIFE: 12 months.
